Change.org celebrated its 200 millionth user at the end of 2017. When it launched in 2011, it had about 9 million users. In less than six years, more than 190 million people registered on the website to make a difference in their communities. Today, the petitions on the website result in a victory approximately every hour. Altogether, 73 million people have signed petitions that ended up winning.
One of the most notable successes facilitated by Change.org was the demand for more humanitarian relief in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. Half a million people signed the petition that brought to light the Jones Act and other hurdles to aid on the island. Additionally, petitions have led to major policy changes in India, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
