Ed Baker lends his skills in growth hacking and business development as an advisor to LimeBike, a California-based bicycle-sharing business that allows people to locate and ride community bicycles for short trips. Consumers can use smartphones and other mobile devices to locate bicycles, which are GPS-enabled for easy tracking. The electric bicycles cost $1 to unlock, allowing consumers to use them at a rate of 15 cents per minute and lock them up at any bike-parking location. Originally launched in San Diego, LimeBike extended its services to Santa Monica in April 2018.

Statistics indicate that Los Angeles possesses the worst traffic congestion in the world, and Santa Monica ranks at the top of the list for the nation’s most heavily congested cities. A LimeBike press release attributed much of this congestion to the fact that most residents commute primarily by car. Giving residents an affordable alternative option for short-distance trips can help alleviate congestion and improve urban mobility. The Los Angeles general manager for LimeBike also stated its potential for transforming the future of transportation within the city.
