Fast triathlon transitions can save triathletes several minutes, yet most triathletes forget about practicing these transitions early. In most cases, transitions should be practiced as soon as triathletes start training for an upcoming event. This gives them plenty of time to learn how to transition between swimming, running, and biking. The goal is for transitions to become like second nature so they can be done as fast as possible during the event.

Beyond practicing, triathletes can speed their transitions by properly setting up their stations. Transition stations should have only the gear that triathletes need to complete the race.
Unnecessary gear clutters the station and makes moving quickly more difficult. Triathletes must remember where their stations are by looking for nearby landmarks or making something in their stations stand out from the others.
Finally, triathletes can employ certain strategies to shorten their transitions times, such as putting on sunglasses while still pedaling the bike or briefly running with a bike before mounting it.
